In Loving Memory
Nirmala Mehta
1924 – 2019
Nirmala N. Mehta was born on December 25, 1924 in Morbi, Gujarat, India. She passed away peacefully on 7th day of April, 2019 in her home at Artesia, CA with family by her side.
After losing her mother at the tender age of 8, Nirmala with her baby sister moved to Bombay to stay with paternal and maternal aunts because of her father’s travel for work. At the age of 17, she got married to Nagindas Mehta. She enjoyed her married life of 31 years to the fullest extent.
Nirmala, being very talented, was never shy to share her talents with others. She was a founder and a president of Jain Mahila Mandal in Bombay for many years. She had an expertise in cooking, latch hook, candle making, etc. She taught people all these arts at her own home without any expectation of money.
Nirmala was very open to adapt to a new way of life in America. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, she learned to use computer and started to read Indian newspapers on computer. On her personal iPad, she started to play games such as Solitaire and Alibaba 40 thieves. She never let her age stop her from learning and growing.
Nirmala was known for her friendliness and open heart. Her helpful nature made her popular amongst family members, neighbors, and friends. She happily welcomed family and friends to her home. She had patience and was gentle, humble and loving. She was always available to lend a helping hand to people who were less fortunate than her. Silently, she would buy groceries for those people, year after year, without letting anyone know.
Her big beautiful blue/green happy eyes and smile is going to be missed by her family and friends. She will be always remembered as a sweet loving and caring person.
She left this world to join her loving devoted husband, Nagindas Mehta, mother Kashiben Sheth, father Trilokchand Sanghavi and sister Kundan Mehta. She is survived by three children, Hansa Sheth, Pradeep Mehta, and Bharti Shah, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and many cousins and relatives.
God Bless her Soul.
