Bridget Johnson Obituary

Bridget Johnson was born in St. Louis, Missouri.  She was the seventh child of George and Clara Chapman.  She was born on June 25, 1950.  At the age of 3, she moved from St. Louis to Tujunga, California.  She also had four younger siblings.  Bridget has two beautiful children, Tahis McQueen, and Olin Johnson (deceased).

Bridget loved the outdoors, animals, cooking, growing plants and helping others.  She had surgery as a young child during the early years of grade school to improve her eyesight so that she would be able to see correctly.  She successfully graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes grade school.

She struggled at home, and had difficulty with her relationship with her father.  She ran away from home as a young teenager.  She went to San Francisco, and then came home to continue her schooling.  She completed middle school.  Bridget went to Germany and married Phillip Johnson who was in the military.  After she returned, she went to Glendale Community College to get her GED, and completed high school.  She then got her license as a beautician.   She had her family, and stayed home with her children.  She had mental problems, and got divorced.  The children were with her, and eventually went to live with their father.  Bridget worked as a beautician, and also worked at JC Penney for many years.  She lived in her North Hollywood home for 30 years.

Bridget was hit by a car while crossing a busy street.  She was also involved in car accidents, and all of these things deteriorated her quality of life.  She had a number of severe surgeries including neck, back, brain surgery for aneurism, shoulder surgeries, and she also had a heart attack.    Through all of these difficult surgeries, she still wanted to be independent and live on her own – which she did successfully until the day she died.  She was beginning to show signs of dementia, because she kept losing all of her important items.  We would pray to St. Anthony so that she could find these missing things.  She found them in due time.  Through all of this, she still wanted to take care of herself.  With the help of caregivers, she was independent.

She had difficult relationships with everyone in the family and her daughter.  However, Bridget loved her family and daughter, and we love her.  She will be greatly missed by all.  Bridget loved God.  We would often pray together when her problems were overwhelming.  She called the priest to come to give her the sacraments of the Catholic Church which helped to bring her peace.  May she rest in peace with the Lord Jesus.  She will be happy to be with her son, Olin, her mom and dad, and all who have gone before her.
